7. Draw effect arrows inside the cloud

Canvas Guidance Step 7: Within each cloud draw simple arrows between the noun boxes (no double arrows, but if necessary draw 2 arrows in different directions); Attention arrow direction: noun X affects g noun Y

Relationship counts

To date, a question has simply been discussed in a structured way as to how this can be done in coaching sessions or similar workshops. However, the linear way of thinking does not help with complexity. A professional football trainer must take into account not only the skills of his players but also their relationships and sympathies with each other. Will the player shoot the goal himself or present the ball to the better positioned player? In Kubernetik, the relationships of the influencing variables to each other are represented with effect arrows in the relationship map.

Draw arrows into the map

In this step, it is now necessary to look at all influencing variables within a category cloud and ask the question: does this influence quantity have an effect on this influence quantity? </block rate> Beginning with one of the nouns A, ask yourself the question whether this influencing variable directly or indirectly, subjectively felt or objectively affects the other B? If yes, draw an arrow A affects B. Then repeat the same if A with C and so on, until there is no noun left inside the cloud. After that go to another noun B and ask the same question whether this has an effect on A, C, D etc.. This until they are all networked.

Example

In our example, eating healthier could have an effect arrow of “cooking course” has effects on “organic shop shopping”, because in the course one is convinced if necessary the recommendation to this type of purchase. If necessary, the “organic shop” purchase has an effect on the “cooking course” if you think that you should process the more expensive foods then also better. In this case you draw a 2nd arrow in the other direction. The cross-linking is very individual and everyone draws different arrows here.

Control for active arrows

  • draw all arrows with a ballpoint pen or pencil, not with a colored pencil
  • always draw simple arrows with only one arrow direction, never double arrows! Of course it is relevant to draw one back and one forth arrow if needed.
  • start with a noun A and then check the relationship to all others, then go to B first
  • try, if possible, not to draw arrows crosswise with other arrows or by noun blocks, if necessary. you can draw a bow around
  • Always draw the arrow tip by hatching it; this will help later when counting
  • prefer too many to too few arrows, if you only have an indistinct feeling that an arrow could fit, draw it in
  • always first link all influence size main words in a category cloud, then go to the next cloud
  • in certain cases the question “affects” doesn’t fit for an arrow. For example, if the nouns are “Marketing” and “Google Marketing”, because one is the over-category of the other. In this case, ask the question “is one”. Thus, the arrow of Google Marketing would point to marketing.

Next step 8

In the next 8. Step you will draw the effect arrows also beyond the category-cloud boundaries. I.e. connect everything with everything that makes sense. Don’t worry, this is usually less expensive than it sounds.
