Bill Gross bei TED zur Frage der Erfolgs-Faktoren für Startups

Since almost a decade I am a founder and entrepreneur of software products. Almost as long I have been working as a freelance lecturer for students at the TU Munich on the topic of entrepreneurship with hundreds of founders and teams I supervise.

Factors for start-up success

One of the most important questions in the start-up business is, how to found a company successfully and which factors are decisive here? I experienced a real wow-effect with the TED-Video “The single biggest reason why start-ups succeed” by Bill Gross – one of the most successful investors in Silicon Valley. He asked himself the question why some of his more than 100 investments were not successful under the best conditions. He therefore systematically compared all his portfolio companies of the last 20 years to the factors relevant to him.

  • Team
  • Timing
  • Idea
  • Business Model
  • Funding

What is the decisive success factor at the beginning?

I have not propagated it so far, but Kubernetik does not always have to start with a “how” question! This is always necessary if you want to change something. Because the “how” points to the future. However, if you want to understand something or a system from the past or present – for example, to learn lessons for the future – you can also ask a “WHY” or “What” question.

What is the initially most relevant success factor for a startup?

response phrase 1

A trend topic, creates the better idea, which attracts a more efficient team and convinces investors, who help one to develop the optimal business model – with all the other mutual networking. As is so often the case with simple solutions to complex questions: you could have come yourself. But where do you get the certainty whether your own feeling is really right, if you don’t take the trouble like Bill Gross and have the data available?

The Kubernetik for the protection of decision makers

I myself therefore use Kubernetik several times a week for my business and private decisions. Not to forget to be on the right track also as an emotional security. This gives self-confidence and energy to follow the path consistently. In many cases I would lack the data for urgent decisions. Some would require several years of doctoral work. The fate of founders and entrepreneurs in particular is a life of uncertainty and blurriness. Hence my recommendation to always make at least a short Kubernetik for important decisions. This will effectively increase the probability of better results without too much time spent. Paired with a good and motivating feeling of security.

Conclusion

The first sentence always refers to the heart of Kubernetik. So what is the most important, outstanding, etc. Actually one could say that the following sentence represents the result of the question asked.

Conclusion

Retrospectively, the result appears coherent and sensible. In this case an explanation:
